2022 IS THE YEAR OF CATFISHING IN FARGO-MOORHEAD

2022 is going to be a great year for catfishing the Red River in the Fargo-Moorhead area. River Keepers along with Grand Forks catfish guide/ tournament director, Brad Durick, are bringing Catfish University and Moorhead Community Ed classes back to Fargo in March. In addition, they would like to announce the Ruler of the Red Fishing Tournament utilizing the FishDonkey app and the Scheels Catfish Classic at M.B. Johnson Park in Moorhead.


Catfish University was created by Durick in Fargo back in 2010. Since then, there have been many advancements in catfishing and the Red River has become an even bigger attraction than it has ever been. Durick, is brining a new updated three-part series of Catfish University to Fargo March 9, 16th and 17th. They will be held at the Expressway Suites in Fargo from 6:30-8:30 each session. These seminars will be for everyone from a person thinking about trying catfishing for the first time to the seasoned angler who wants to fish in tournaments.

Session 1- March 9th 6:30-8:30 p.m. Introduction to Catfishing
Session 2 – March 16th 6:30-8:30 p.m. Catching Red River Catfish
Session 3 – March 17th 6:30-8:30 p.m. Advanced Catfishing

Cost – $20/session or $50 for all 3

A two day class option to learn the basics of how to get started and understand how to successfully catch catfish on the Red River is Catfish the Red on March 22 and 23 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.. Whether you are new to catfishing or a veteran, everyone will walk away with helpful tips to catch more catfish. Taught by Brad Durick

River Keepers is adding a fun virtual fishing tournament, Ruler of the Red.  Payouts will be for largest catfish and walleye.  This tournament can prepare you for the Scheels Catfish Classic in Moorhead in July!

In addition to his Scheels Boundary Battle Catfish Tournament (Grand Forks, East Grand Forks) and Catfish Capital Challenge (Drayton) tournaments, Durick is adding the 50 team Scheels Catfish Classic in Moorhead to the schedule on July 9th. This is the first catfish tournament held in the F-M Area and based on early entries it will be a popular event.
