Annual Meeting Elections and Award

At our Annual Meeting last night, five new board members were elected (Chris Hanson, Lukas Human, Jillian Patrie, Brian Smart, Scott Smyth), four board members were re-elected (Mike Ferrie, Amy Kronbeck, Lindsey Lee, Shannon Thornton) and we recognized three outgoing board members (Daigen Afdahl, Sandra East, Jill Wilkey).

Shanley High School exemplifies the spirit of this award through decades of dedicated service in helping River Keepers sustain the Red River. Their partnership with River Keepers dates to the fall of 1995 when River Keepers first started the Adopt the Red Program. Shanley continued their commitment—participating in cleanups at nearby parks and, in more recent years, becoming a key volunteer group in Reforest the Red Fargo. These service-learning experiences have often taken place during Shanley’s annual Deacon Day, a day dedicated to giving back and making a difference. In fact, we’ve even scheduled Reforest the Red Fargo around Deacon Day.

In addition,, they have also participated in our Storm Drain Marking Program, T-shirt to Tote Project, and asked us to present information about River Keepers and the Red River to their Ecology students .

We extend our sincere gratitude for their contributions and for their dedication to engaging students in meaningful community service.
